For more than 100 years, United Way of Central Oklahoma (UWCO) has been the community safety net for health and human services in central Oklahoma. Currently, UWCO funds 134 programs administered by 69 Partner Agencies. Through the annual Community Investment process, 200+ donor volunteers convene to evaluate the agencies' requests for funding. In addition to the Community Investment process, UWCO holds the unique distinction of being one of the only United Ways in the nation with staff dedicated to research. The research department is responsible for identifying emerging needs and service gap areas in central Oklahoma. This information is used to determine UWCO's strategic initiatives, collaborate with other community organizations to respond to social service needs, and educate the public on the needs that exist in the community. UWCO also houses a Volunteer Center that allows community members the opportunity to connect with Partner Agencies and leave a lasting impact.
