| United Way's mission is: "Together, we mobilize our communities to improve people's lives".
Our vision is to help all families in Coastal Fairfield County thrive, building stronger communities where we all want to work and live. We are committed to creating sustainable solutions, starting with the academic success and workplace readiness of our next generation.
United Way of Coastal Fairfield County is focused on changing the odds for children and their families. United Way believes in creating a pathway to opportunity and a good quality of life for all and is working to achieve these goals:
• More children ready for school, reading at third-grade level and graduating high school, which United Way refers to as "Changing the Odds for Children;"
• More families in stable homes and fewer families homeless and more capacity and integration of community resources to assist families with basic needs, which United Way refers to as "Neighbors Helping Neighbors."
• More aligned efforts across sectors and organizations that touch all stages of a child's development toward adulthood, which United Way refers to as "Cradle to Career;"
United Way of Coastal Fairfield County, Inc. (United Way) serves the twelve communities of Bridgeport, Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stratford, Trumbull, Westport, Weston and Wilton, Connecticut.
A member of United Way Worldwide, United Way has adopted both its business framework of advancing the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all through a focus on Education, Income and Health and its 2018 "Goals for the Common Good":
• Cut by half the number of young people who drop out of high school;
• Cut by half the number of low-wage families who are financially unstable;
• Increase by one-third the number of youth who are healthy and avoid risky behaviors.
