| United Way of Western Connecticut (UWWC) is committed to enhancing the health, education and financial stability of hard-working, struggling households that we call ALICE® (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) in our 15-town region: Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury, Kent, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Roxbury, Sherman, Stamford, Warren and Washington. ALICE represents the growing number of individuals and families who are working, but unable to afford the basic necessities of housing, food, child care, health care, and transportation. The community fund supports local programs and initiatives with the greatest population outcomes for households who fall at or below the ALICE financial threshold, with the goal of achieving significant systemic change. Supporting this fund will allow us to target resources where struggling households in Western Connecticut need them the most. |
