| Established in 1938 as the Community Chest, United Way of the Coastal Empire has been serving southeast Georgia for more than 75 years as its leading philanthopic organization. United Way raises and distributes millions of dollars, annually, to support the community's human service needs. United Way serves Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties and delivers direct services through its information and resource center, United Way 2-1-1, and its volunteer service, United Way Volunteers.
Through partnerships, long-term planning and wise investments of donor contributions, United Way of the Coastal Empire supports almost 100 community programs and services in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties.
United Way is a volunteer driven organization that involves hundreds of community leaders, professionals and other volunteers in every aspect of our business; including fundraising, marketing and funding decisions, to ensure that your donations are truly making a difference.
Thanks to the Herschel V. Jenkins Trust Fund and other income, which covers almost all administrative and fundraising costs, donor contributions go to help people in need.
