Char-Em United Way's Mission: Uniting the people and resources of Charlevoix and Emmet Counties to build strong communities.

Ties to its Vision of: Communitieis where individuals and families achieve their potential through education, income stability adnd healthy lives.

In Addition to the many programs we fund through partner agencies focusing on Income/Education/Health, Char-Em supports these initiatives:

  • Dolly Parton Imagination Library - Providing a book a month mailed directly to any registered child age birth - 5 years. Children must reside in Charlevoix or Emmet County. Any child in this age-range can register to recieve books free of charge.
  • Literacy Corps. - our Vista Volunteer leads the way in connecting volunteer readers with educational placements either during or after school to enhance student success
  • Volunteer Connections - an easy to use online resource connecting people with volunteer opportunities in Charlevoix and Emmet County
  • FEET - Freinds Enhancing Emmet Transportation. Working with community partners to bring public transportation options to residents of Emmet County
