| VBC United Way provides financial support to programs that help meet Basic Needs, Strengthen Families, and assure Health and Well-being. VBC United Way and its Funded Partner programs have more than 275,000 points of contact helping others each year. It is the "go-to" agency in Van Buren County for connecting individuals in need with programs that can assist them, and for connecting agencies, institutions and businesses to each other to improve lives for everyone in our county.
VBCUW also administers its own programming which includes: Moving under-resourced individuals and their families permanently out of poverty through Getting Ahead workshops and Financial Literacy courses; County Coordination of the VITA Free Tax Preparation program (2nd only to Detroit in number of returns filed per capita); Oversite of the Stuff the Bus countywide food pantry drive; Coordination of the FamilyWize Prescription Discount Program; Conducting Bridges Out of Poverty community awareness training; and publication of the Van Buren County Resource Guide (a directory of assistance programs and agencies available throughout the county).
