Our Mission: We link the community's will and resources to improve lives. Our Vision: Working Together to Build a Better Community. Since 1942, United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) has invested in improving lives in our 13-county region by bringing people together to give, advocate, and volunteer. UWNNS believes that when the community comes together and put all our resources to work, we can solve our most pressing issues and create opportunities for a better life for all. While many think of United Way as simply an organization that provides funds to other nonprofits, UWNNS is a "Collective Impact" organization. We are committed to listening to our community and bringing together local nonprofits, businesses, elected officials and community members to collaborate and implement solutions. No one organization can do this alone. It takes the entire community to make change happen. United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra and our community partners are working to develop long-term solutions by strengthening families and helping our youngest learners read on time. The building blocks to a good life -- start with strong families. When we have strong families they can give our children a quality education that leads to a lifetime of success-- leading to a high school graduate, a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement and good health for a more productive life.
