| United Way of Westchester and Putnam is dedicated to improving the lives of 40% of our neighbors who live in poverty or paycheck to paycheck. These are often hardworking families struggling to make ends meet and provide a better life for their children. United Way provides strategic resources and tools to help financially struggling residents lead a more stable life, and these include our 211 helpline operating 24/7 across the lower Hudson Valley, early literacy programming for preschoolers in underserved communities, job skills training and financial empowerment for financially struggling adults and families, as well as access to health services and discounts on prescription drugs. United Way supports hundreds of local nonprofits with $2-3 million in essential goods for basic needs each year, by providing ongoing affordable professional development, and connecting nonprofits to new resources. We partner with corporations, nonprofits, schools, and governments to further our impact by leveraging our collective strengths against the strongholds of poverty. Together, United Way positively impacts tens of thousands of individuals and families every year. |
