For 96 years, United Way of Central Oklahoma (UWCO) has been the community safety net for health and human services in central Oklahoma. Currently, UWCO funds 113 programs administered by 57 Partner Agencies. Through the annual Community Investment process, 200+ donor volunteers convene to evaluate the agencies' requests for funding. In addition to the Community Investment process, UWCO holds the unique distinction as being one of the only United Ways in the nation with staff dedicated to research. The research department is responsible for identifying emerging needs and service gap areas in central Oklahoma. This information is used to determine UWCO's strategic initiatives, collaborate with other community organizations to respond to social service needs, and educate the public on the needs that exist in the community. UWCO also houses a Volunteer Center that is funded almost entirely by outside grants.
