| The best way to give and make a difference! Giving to United Way of Kershaw County ensures that your gift will have the most impact in your community. By combining your gift with thousands of others United Way is able to achieve long term change in improving people's lives.
The United Way of Kershaw County has 4 key initiatives:
Education - increase the graduation rate to 95% by 2018 (currently at 89%)
Health- improve the health of our community byt addressing the obesity problem in adults and youth ( currently working with Eat Smart Move More, KershawHealth and the Recretion Department)
Income- Address the poverty needs of our community by reaching out to unstable working families and individuals to provide them with the skills, education, and support they need to thrive. We are working with Goodwill to open a financial stability center in October, 2014.
Hunger / Homeless - We helped start our newest partner agency Food for the Soul whose mission, like ours is to end hunger and homelessness in our county. We opened a men's shelter in December, 2013 and are serving single men moving them from homelessness to self- sufficiency.
